event info.
Cutting through chains or any barrier/lock; channelling bolts to break apart; cutting away for new innovations
[ AFFLICTION ◎ Engine Surge ]
Unforeseen destruction; overwhelming the system; used beyond means or burning out; stalled progress
Quick info/hooks:
⚡ He's a six-legged centaur with wings now. He's taken on traits that once belonged to the Eikon forms of Barnabas and Benedikta, both of whom he views as having lost their way. Subconsciously, he feels as if the same thing has happened to him, but with his memories gone the feeling is only vague and unsettling.
⚡ In his human form, which he wears more often than his full god form, his hair and beard are white, and his eyes glow electric blue - it's basically a slightly more subdued form of his semiprime. He's usually seen carrying a staff regardless of the form he takes.
⚡ Typically goes by Cid for everyone, even mortals who might worship him, but will still answer to Ramuh, Warden of Thunder, or Storm Herald.
⚡ Tried to destroy the Singularity with Clive & Jill but was stopped by other Summoned before they made the attempt.
⚡ Rejected his Godhood in the beginning and created a demigod by mistake. The general instability of his connection to the Singularity led to rapid memory loss. He no longer remembers anything about his mortal life.
⚡ Worshipped primarily by rebels and revolutionaries, as well as those who seek sanctuary and freedom from tyranny.
⚡ Looks after a village near the Witchwood, called Sanctuary, which is always seeking combatants to aid in its protection, as well as teachers and scholars to encourage mortals to grow.
⚡ Interested in meeting anyone familiar with magic and/or science who wants to look into the Singularity and its effects on the Summoned and the land, as well as whatever is happening with the Witchwood.
⚡ Doesn't maintain a domain of his own, but will crash on your Godlands couch.
ABILITIES
Cid is going to retain a lot of Ramuh's lighting and storm-based abilities, with the added benefit of being able to control localized storms and lighting strikes effortlessly, regardless of the form he takes. In his god form, a constant storm follows in his wake, and his steps echo with the rumble of thunder.
He will generally be passing a lesser form of these abilities along to favoured mortals. As his power has grown, he's continued to merge it with technology, creating things like lighting barriers to protect small villages and types of crystals to store magic and reduce the impact it has on the land, that kind of thing.
Though his abilities seem relatively limited, he's avoided exploring them further. While the memory loss means he's no longer outright hostile toward godhood, it still makes him uneasy.

CURSE
Cid is known for bestowing his power on mortals, particularly rebels and revolutionaries, and others who might be interested in shaking up the status quo. Even heretics have been known to receive his blessing if he believes them to be well-intentioned.
The Affliction side of his abilities takes the form of a curse. Whenever Cid takes a mortal under his wing, even if he doesn't grant them a measure of his power, they're said to meet a tragic end. They die young, their rebellions fall apart, or the places they hoped to liberate become embroiled in civil war. In some cases, they become overwhelmed by a surge of his power, and are burned up by it, leaving no remains. Rarely, they live on to become despots and tyrants; if that happens, Cid will often subdue them himself. This has led to rumours that a storm on the day of a coronation is an ill omen.
In the rarest cases, they do succeed in bringing about a better future, but it's never without a great and terrible cost.

HISTORY
Early on Cid was very resistant toward his potential ascent to Godhood — he firmly does NOT want to be worshipped. This led to him ignoring his connection to the Singularity and maintaining minimal use of his powers until the point where he started to bleed magic, creating massive and uncontrollable lighting storms in the process. He wasn't entirely holding it together by the time he attempted to destroy the Singularity with Jill Warrick and Clive Rosfield — they were stopped by other summoned before the attempt could be made. It was after this that he rapidly lost all of his memories of being mortal, and the continuous power bleed led to the creation of a demigod that was driven into the Witchwood. It was this confluence of events that finally pushed him to seek another path.
Having forgotten much of his mortal life and unsure of what to do with himself in the intervening years, he built an inn not far from the edges of the Witchwood. At first, it mostly housed travellers to keep them safe from the dangers within the wood, but it soon it became a haven for the lost and the exiled, and expanded into a small village that came to be called Sanctuary. Cid feels most at home and at peace there, though he doesn't truly understand why — he suspects it has something to do with the memories he's lost.
If your character needs somewhere to drop off the rescues from their latest bout of heroics, maybe it's there! Cid spends a lot of his time in Sanctuary, both protecting the mortals who live there and encouraging them to seek knowledge and grow.
It's not something that's easy for him to do alone, so he would welcome (and even seek out) anyone who wants to drop in and help out, both as mentors/teachers and protectors to keep the village safe from the various dangers that might crawl out of the Witchwood.
With that in mind, he'll be looking for anyone familiar with magic and/or science who wants to look into the Singularity and its effects on the Summoned and the land, as well as whatever is happening with the Witchwood since that's all stuff he really wants to know more about.

DOMAIN
Cid doesn't have a specific domain in the Horizon — instead, he will create his workshop on a rare as-needed basis, but will otherwise prefer to stay with other Summoned when he's spending an extended period of time there. If you want to handwave some friendship points and your character might be open to some guy showing up at their Horizon house to crash on their godcouch, hit me up! He tries to spend as much time as possible among mortals, as he feels that losing touch with them will ultimately lead to the loss of what's left of his humanity.
VILLAGE
The village called Sanctuary exists not far from the edges of the Witchwood. It's protected by a series of lightning barriers that serve to slow down or deter demigods that stray out of the wood, and the skies above are almost always overcast.
Sanctuary accepts all kinds with few questions asked, allowing even heretics to dwell among their number so long as they don't raise a hand against other mortals. Those who can contribute to the day-to-day upkeep of the village are expected to do so in whatever capacity they're able, and children are expected to attend lessons for a few hours every day. For the most part, the people who live there manage the village and its governance, with Cid only serving as a protector and offering advice, or leading lost souls to find safety there.
Scientists and scholars are dawn to the village for its proximity to the Witchwood, which allows them to participate in research about its effects on Abraxas, and makes it an undesirable target for pretty much every other kind of trouble.
Engineers and Blacksmiths can take advantage of the Ironworks, Cid's workshop that bosts all manner of materials and information, and is open to all. Cid himself will often offer training and advice to those who show an interest.
For many, Sanctuary functions as a way point where they learn and grow, then return to their old lives or begin new ones elsewhere.

RELATIONSHIPS
Geralt | GAURDIAN OF THE TORN
They've crossed paths a few times over the years, strictly in their god personas. Though they've only exchanged a few words from time to time, they've heard of each other's past deeds and certain tragedies that have followed.
Ciri | HERALD OF INFINITE CONSTELLATIONS
(As far as he knows) Cid met Ciri when he helped her defeat the demigods she spawned near his village by the Witchwood. Though he wasn't thrilled about all the new visitors in their back yard, he's curious about what caused the issue in the first place.
Istredd | HERALD OF FORBIDDEN KNOWLEDGE
Though they got off on the wrong foot after the whole Singularity-attacking incident, Istredd and Cid have since buried the proverbial hatchet. He visits the library for research and tries to drag Istredd out of it every now and again, while also helping him learn New Magic.
Clive | GAURDIAN OF THE PATHLESS
Despite not remembering their past relationship, Cid is drawn to the twin stars Clive and Jill as if by the hand of fate itself. Clive was the first of those he tried to save and guide but couldn't, in this version of the story. After they failed to attack the Singularity, Cid lost his memories of their mortal lives. His village was built near one that Clive destroyed in his early years, and Cid was drawn back into Clive's orbit after Clive himself visited Sanctuary.
Jill | HERALD OF THE EVERWINTER
Though he doesn't remember their relationship from his life as a mortal, Cid is very fond of Jill and considers her an old friend and confidant. They are among the first to awaken together, unwilling to live lives that aren't their own.
Dion | GAURDIAN OF THE GOLDEN LIGHT
After becoming unlikely allies in a battle against a demigod, some of the animosity between Cid and Dion has cooled. Though they might not call each other friends, they're no longer enemies either.
Himeka | HERALD OF CONSUMPTION
The Doctor | GAURDIAN OF THE COSMOS
Sam | GAURDIAN OF THE ROOST
Thancred | GAURDIAN OF THE SHIELD
Viktor | PATRON OF THE CHASSIS
Sylvain | GAURDIAN OF THE PATHLESS
GENERAL INFO
If your character has had a friendly relationship with Cid over the years, here's some general info they might know about him. Feel free to use as much or as little of this as you want!
⚡ Cid pretty friendly and easygoing in a general sense, though he is sometimes stubborn or overbearing when he thinks he's right about something.
⚡ He's close to Clive Rosfield and Jill Warrick, and considers them friends and confidants. He formally had a sort of mentor-student relationship with Clive, but if asked he would say that Clive has long since outgrown that, and that he learned a lot from Clive in turn.
⚡ He needs the sanctuary village as much as it needs him — maybe more. Even though he talks about more frivolous aspirations sometimes, he needs to be doing something that he feels is worthwhile and he's always working on one thing or another.
⚡ He tends to take charge in tense situations and is a solid and experienced tactician. Military types, or those who are familiar with them, will probably be able to peg him as ex-military if they've ever fought alongside him. If asked about it while his memories are still intact, he might say something like "that was a long time ago" and emphasize that there isn't anything in that part of his past to be impressed by.
⚡ He has a "knack for tinkering" and is a good engineer in his own right. While his inventions are usually relatively mundane and intended to solve specific day-to-day problems, he does dream of things like airships and exploration. He tends to get invested in how things work, whether that's machines, people, magic, or other systems that govern the world.
⚡ He was able to wield levin (lighting-based magic) before the change, and it took a toll on his body to do so. They may have seen the parts of his left arm that have turned to stone, which he will explain pretty blandly as the cost of magic in his world, and a part of the reason he's so concerned with what the Singularity is doing to this world.
⚡ He would sooner literally die than actually express in words to anyone's face how much he cares about them or appreciates them. He might have gotten a little better about this over the years, but he's still quick to undercut himself with a self-deprecating joke or a wry remark. He forms attachments to people quickly, especially when they're in need, or if they have helped him out of a tight spot. If there are areas where they particularly shine, he'll often speak highly of them to others.
If they have formed a particularly close friendship and/or knew him before his memory loss, they might additionally know:
⚡ He has a daughter named Midadol. He doesn't talk about her much, for a number of reasons, but the most obvious one is that it's a painful topic for him.
⚡ He was the Dominant of Ramuh (meaning that he could channel the power of a god into his body well before all of this, but considers it very different from actually being a god).
⚡ Has a strong sense of justice, but distrusts most governments and is clearly bitter and jaded towards them. He has tried to work within the system in his own world, but found that people didn't care, or were too short-sighted. He's always working toward a better future, but if he feels that it can't be bought with words he'll resort to any means necessary.
⚡ He warns his wards about the curse and the abysmal chances of success before he takes them on, and even then he does so pretty rarely — at most, once per century or so — but in the end it's their choice. Cid has hope for them, but more often than not he ends up heartbroken by the loss or betrayal.
